If you have any questions about whether or not you meet our requirements, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org
If you meet the requirements above, you will need to fill out the application form below. After filling out the form, you will receive an email giving a brief overview of our current situation and any further steps you'll be required to take.
We also request to speak to all new volunteers over the phone before their arrival. This is for you to be as prepared as possible and for us to get to know you better. If we do not hear from you before your scheduled date of arrival, we cannot guarantee that there will be a spot reserved for you.
It is required that volunteers stay for a minimum of two weeks, but we recommend everyone to stay for a longer term in order for our projects to work as efficiently as possible. A high turnover rate requires us to continuously train and orient new volunteers, which interrupts our workflow.
Also, it is important to be aware that volunteering abroad is not cheap. A typical two-week trip can cost somewhere between 500-1000 euros per person for airline tickets, lodging, food and other miscellaneous expenses. If you're on a budget, we suggest that volunteers to do some form of fundraising before their trip. Since we depend entirely on private donations to pursue our projects, we are also grateful if you are willing to create a fundraiser at home in order to help us continue our activities.
There are a few more things you should consider before volunteering. We often work long hours, early mornings, late nights, in extreme weather and potentially with medical emergencies. At some point, you also may find yourself in an intensely emotional, potentially dangerous, or ethically challenging situation. Therefore, it is important that you are mentally and physically capable of dealing with these situations. If you have been diagnosed with a serious psychological disorder or have health concerns, please carefully consider your choice to volunteer abroad. There are many other ways to contribute, especially through fundraising at home. If you are unsure whether or not you are suitable for this work, contact us and we can discuss your concerns. You can contact us via email at email@example.com.
Thank you again for your interest and look forward to hearing from you soon!
*Potential volunteers should be aware that NLA is still currently in negotiation with the Greek government concerning operations in Kavala. Therefore, the ability of the organization to accept new volunteers is still subject to change. Those interested in volunteering are encouraged to register, the recruitment team will contact you to provide more details about the current situation*
